Worship Ministries

We offer training for these ministries several times a year; they are part of how we "make church together!" Watch for announcements and sign up.

  • Acolytes at All Saints’ are volunteer parishioners of all ages, (usually fourth grade and older). Their ministry is to assist at the altar during worship services.

  • Altar Guild  is one of the oldest ministries in the church and is vital to the church's worship.  Duties include keeping the area behind the altar rail clean, setting up for all services, keeping the silver and brass bright and shiny, maintaining the candles, washing and ironing the altar linens, etc.  In other words, the altar guild does all the "behind the scenes," practical things that enhance worship services and make them glorious.

  • Lay Healers are trained to serve during communion, to offer prayers and anointing with blessed oil to anyone who desires healing.

  • Lay Readers are trained and licensed to read lessons and prayers at worship, and to lead some services (such as Morning and Evening Prayer) in the absence of clergy.

  • Lay Eucharistic Ministers provide a ministry to the ill or homebound that connects them to the congregation by bringing them communion directly from worship. This is an important part of our Pastoral Care Ministry as well.

  • Lectors are parishioners who participate by reading scripture lessons during public worship.

  • Ushers serve at most worship services. They greet people at the door, hand out bulletins, give directions to visitors, bring the elements to the altar, and pass the collection plate.
