Sunday School
9:00 to 10:00am Sundays, September through mid-June.
- Godly Play for preschool and elementary students.
- Youth Class for middle and high school students.
Godly Play
9:00 to 10:00am Sundays in the Godly Play classroom. Our preschool and elementary students use Godly Play, a Montessori-like program of spiritual formation. The goal of Godly Play is to provide an environment that fosters discovery learning in which children feel safe and welcomed; where they can learn the art of using religious language to encounter the elusive mystery of God and to use that language to find meaning in their lives.
Godly Play is not play time. It uses religious language to tell the stories of the people of God. It creates sacred space for children, where they can build a community. It gives children the materials and the time to work on their own issues and to come close to God. It lets them discover the “answers” for themselves, rather than having an adult tell them. Godly Play also acknowledges that children already have a spiritual life.
“There was once someone who so understood the heart of the child, that they became a child and dwelt among us.”
The Godly Play lesson follows the pattern of worship.
Our classes run like this:
9:00 to 9:05: Gather and get ready.
9:05 to 9:20: Story and wondering time.
9:20 to 9:50: Response time and work time.
9:50 to 10:00: Prayer time and Feast
10:00: Dismissal from the classroom
If your child has not yet tried Godly Play, they are welcome to join in any Sunday! Parents are welcome to stay and experience Godly Play as well.
Youth
9:00 to 10:00am Sundays in the loft. Our Youth class (6th grade through 12th grade) meets to learn more about the Bible and Christianity and how that can impact their lives and our world. See Youth Group below for gatherings at other times.
Nursery
9:00 to 11:30am Sundays, located in the Education Hall. Our nursery is open for young children, ages birth to 3-4yrs, during the 9am education hour, and the 10:15 worship service. It is also open for certain special services. Our nursery is staffed by two professional caregivers and is filled with all kinds of exciting, age-appropriate activities. There is a comfortable chair for nursing, a portable crib for napping, and a changing table. Silent pagers are available for parents to carry during worship, so we can let you know if your child needs you.
If you are new to the Nursery, please fill out the Registration Form linked at the top of the page.
Children's Chapel
10:05 to 11:00am on Sundays, meeting in the multipurpose room. Our STAR Time/Children’s Chapel is a child-friendly Liturgy of the Word for children in preschool and elementary school, and allows time for questions and play, while learning the liturgy. Everyone comes upstairs during the announcement time for Communion. Please sign your child in when dropping them off to STAR Time.
Youth Group
Once a month, usually 5:00 to 7:00pm Sundays. Our middle school and high school students meet once a month to share dinner together, work on service projects, play games, and end the evening with Compline. Friends are always welcome, but they do need a parent-signed Medical Release form.
Youth have the opportunity to participate in a number of diocesan-wide retreat weekends through the year, and Camp Cross in the summer. Please contact Theresa at school@allsaintsrichland.org in the church office if you would like to know more.
Vacation Bible School
VBS is a week-long program for kids ages 4 (preschool) through 6th grade, held 9am to noon each day for a week in summer. Each year there is a new theme and mission that focuses on God's love and presence in the world around us. Recent themes have included: “God’s Gift of Grace” (2023); “Seeds of Faith” (2024); and “God’s Great Family” (2025).
Our 2026 theme is “Living Water” and will be held July 13-17, 2026. Look for registration to open in April!
Camp Cross
Camp Cross is our Diocesan Camp, located on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho. A full schedule of youth, adult, and family camps are held from May to October each year. Housing is in heated cabins; bathhouses with hot showers are nearby, and a dining hall/gathering room is centrally located. New cabins are expected to be open in summer 2026!
Youth camps start for students entering 1st grade and older. All Saints’ provides scholarship money for every youth in our parish to go to camp their first time; some scholarship money is available for returning campers as well–contact the clergy or Theresa Grate in the church office. Transportation can often be arranged through carpooling. For next summer’s schedule and more information, click here.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
