Children & Youth Ministries
Visitors and friends are always welcome to participate in our children’s ministry programs.
Our Sunday school classes are held between the two Sunday services, so all can join in. Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully in our worship services, but options are available if the child or parent prefers.
Our nursery is
available for infants and toddlers during both services;
elementary-aged children have the option of Children’s Chapel at
the 10:15 service, after which we join our families during the
Peace to participate in Holy Communion. Youth in 4th grade or
older are encouraged to serve as acolytes or readers.
Sunday School
9:00 to 10:00 AM Sundays, September through mid-June. All Saints’ Church School classes
meet on Sunday mornings between the two services. Classes are
grouped by grade level: Primary (preschool -2nd grade),
Intermediate (3rd-5th grade), and Youth (6th-12th grade).
Our Primary and Intermediate classes use Godly Play, a
Montessori-based program of spiritual formation. Our youth
class mixes learning with service projects. Combined classes are
sometimes held for special events. Visitors and friends are
always welcome!
Nursery
Available during both Sunday services and the education
hour, and special events. Our nursery is open for young
children, ages birth to 3, and staffed by a professional
caregiver, Jennifer. There is a comfortable chair for nursing
and a changing table. Silent pagers are available for parents to
carry during worship, so we can summon you if needed.
Children’s Chapel
Starting at 10:05 AM on Sundays year-round. During the beginning of the
10:15 service, we offer children’s chapel for kids ages 3 to 10.
We meet in the S.T.A.R. Time room in the education wing
downstairs and begin with a short play time, then process to the
children’s chapel area for a reading/lesson and prayer time
geared to young children. More fellowship follows until the
children are brought upstairs to join their families for
Communion. Volunteers staff the S.T.A.R. Time room and lead
Children’s Chapel.
Children’s Music
Children sing and play chimes on occasion during worship
services. Music practice is held following the 10:15 service,
approximately 11:30-12:00. Singing is for anyone 3+ years
old. Chimes are for 3rd graders and older.
Youth Group
Our Middle School and High School students hold special
activities for fellowship and service approximately once a
month. Activities have included Video Game Nights, leaf raking
for parishioners, an overnight lock-in at the church, pet food
drive, Christmas party, bowling, and assisting with VBS. They
also have the opportunity to participate in Diocesan youth
activities held throughout they year. Friends are welcome
at youth events; they do need a completed
Medical Release
form. Check
the web calendar for upcoming events, or call Theresa in the
church office.
Vacation Bible School
All Saints’ holds a Vacation Bible School for a week each
summer, open to all children ages 4 to 12. Our 2011 VBS will be
held July 11-15, using Heifer International's "Animal Crackers."
Camp Cross
Camp Cross is our
Diocesan Camp, located on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene in
Idaho. A full schedule of youth, adult, and family camps are
held from May to October each year. Housing is in heated cabins;
bathhouses with hot showers are nearby, and a dining
hall/gathering room is centrally located. Youth camps start for
students entering 2nd grade and older. All Saints’ provides
scholarship money for every youth in our parish to go to camp
their first time; some scholarship money is available for
returning campers as well–contact the clergy or Theresa Grate in
the church office. Transportation is usually available by bus
from Ritzville, or by carpooling.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
